Itinerary

Pick up from Airport/hotel and leave for Samburu National Reserve driving across the equator to the Northern Hemisphere, and onward to the semi-arid region of the. Arrive in good time for lunch and rest. In the afternoon have a game drive until late evening.

The name Samburu is of Maasai origin, a ‘samburr’ is a traditional leather bag the Masai use for carrying honey and milk. After breakfast, go for a full day game drive carrying packed lunch. A day spent searching for the big five, the Samburu five, and observing the vast unspoiled scenery. These five particular animals are usually only found north of the equator – the long-necked gerenuk, the reticulated giraffe which is characterized by its liver-colored geometric patches defined by narrow white lines, the Grevy’s zebra which is smaller than the common zebra and looks more like a horse, the beisa oryx with a black horizontal stripe running across its lower flank and the Somali ostrich males which have blue-grey necks and thighs.

After breakfast, leave for Ol Pejeta Conservancy to arrive in good time for lunch and rest. In the afternoon have a game drive at the sanctuary and also, visit the Sweetwater’s Sanctuary that boasts an outstanding variety of animals including the non-indigenous orphaned chimpanzees and the big 5: the endangered black rhino, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and lion. The combination of amazing wildlife and stunning views across the open plains of Ol Pejeta guarantees an unforgettable safari experience.

After breakfast; Leave for Lake Nakuru National Park with a short stopover at Thompsons Falls, thereafter, proceed to Lake Nakuru to arrive in good time for lunch and rest. Head for an afternoon game drive; at this lovely reserve is pleasing to the eye with its forests and acacia trees. Some flamingos dot the lake-shore as well as kingfishers, ostriches, and raptors like herons and eagles. We will also spot rhinos in the protected sanctuary here and be on the lookout for the rare Rothschild’s giraffe nibbling at the branches above.

After breakfast, carry your packed lunch and head for a full-day game drive. Explore the incredible Mara wide-open landscapes and fertile riverine woodland following the looping meanders of the Mara and Talek rivers in Kenya: witness the frequent amount of wildlife such as Masai giraffe, baboons, warthogs, bat-eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyena, topis, impala, hartebeests, and wildebeest. Elephants, buffaloes, zebras, and hippos are also found in great numbers. It is also common to see lions either basking after a heavy meal or surveying the plains for their next meal. The ultimate action here is, without doubt, the annual wildebeest exodus, the Great Migration, in July and August when millions of these grass eaters move north from the Serengeti in search of lusher grass before turning south again in October.

Do an early morning game drive; return to your camp for a full breakfast. Thereafter, leave for Lake Naivasha to arrive in good time for lunch and rest. Afternoon optional boat ride safari and a visit to the crescent island can be arranged at an extra cost. Much of the lake is surrounded by forests of the yellow barked Acacia Xanthophlea, known as the yellow fever tree whereby these forests abound with birdlife, and Naivasha is known as a world-class birding. The waters of the lake draw a great range of games to these shores. Giraffes wander among the acacia, Buffalo wallow in the swamps and Colobus monkeys call from the treetops while the Lakes large hippo population sleeps the day out in the shallows.

After breakfast, leave for Amboseli National Park via Nairobi city to arrive at your camp in good time for lunch and rest. In the afternoon, head for a game viewing drive at the park. Witness the famous big tusked elephants of Amboseli with a clear view of the largest mountain in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro.

After breakfast, leave for Tsavo West National Park to arrive at the lodge in good time for lunch and rest. In the afternoon, go a game drive in the Taita Hills sanctuary. The sanctuary’s location forms a critical dispersal and migratory area for Tsavo’s wildlife. Coupled with the fact that it lies within a biodiversity hotspot area, it holds great ecological importance and species significance.
